Eggshells
I keep all of the eggshells that my chickens lay and after I sterilize them- they are fed back to my little flock as a source of calcium.
Many people use crushed oyster shells or limestone but I like to re-use as many things as I can. Our chickens lay very healthy thick eggs and seem to love the shells !
If your chickens are Free-Range they may get an adequate supply of calcium from small pebbles and soil that they peck at but in our coop we have a dish of eggshells that the chickens can peck at when they need too !

Instructions
-After you use your eggs- rinse the shells out with warm water and add to a jar to dry then crush.

-When you have enough crushed shells to cover a baking sheet heat your oven to 300 degrees Celsius for 5 to 8 minutes.

-When the shells are cool put a dish into your coop and your chickens will peck at them when they need some extra Calcium !
